If you were a doctor, nurse or dentist, what would motivate you to work in a rural or inner city area?
Since you'd probably have tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars in educational loans to pay off, isn't it reasonable to assume you'd probably want a high salary to get out of that hole?
Also, from a financial point of view, why would you put so many years of hard work into getting that sort of a degree only to be paid at rates far below the market value?
I'm an RN, and what would motivate me to work in a rural area OR urban area would be the job itself (hours, perks, location etc). Although I came out of school with some debt, I'd rather work only part-time but live with my husband vs move away for a full time job. You balance life with other things. Its not all about money.
